Overview

When joining this project, you gain experience in working with animals in need and contribute to a good cause as an animal welfare volunteer. Travel to magnificent Greece and help take care of cats in need in an animal sanctuary southeast of Athens!

Details

As a volunteer you will be involved in the daily operations of our partner’s cat sanctuary in the Greek Kouvaras region. You will work on five days per week, for around five hours daily. Feeding the cats, cleaning litter boxes and different areas of the shelter, taking care of the sanctuary garden, playing with the cats as well as joining fundraising events and community work in kindergartens or schools belong to your tasks.

Oftentimes, our partner includes arts and craft activities into the daily routine to create products like cat toys, dog toys or artwork for sale to help fund the shelter. Furthermore, you might assist the team on site with social media activities. Last but not least, you may also be asked to assist our partner’s staff taking a cat to the vet or to the airport for adoption.

Become a volunteer in the beautiful Attica region and help make a difference in animal welfare!

Accommodation

Volunteers live in the sanctuary building in the Kouvaras region, a modern and comfortable two-floor family house. Please note that the cats live freely in the house. There are three bedrooms – a single bedroom with a private bathroom plus two shared bedrooms with a communal bathroom. There are also two sleeping couches downstairs.

There is a living room with a TV, an outside sitting area, a laundry room and a fully-equipped kitchen. Volunteers will be provided with groceries for each day to prepare their own breakfast and lunch. Moreover, there is internet access and four bicycles to get around in the area.

About us

NATUCATE is a German agency, specialized in voluntary work, field guide training, nature-oriented educational courses and internships with a focus on nature and species conservation as well as animal protection. Moreover, we create and organize individual sabbaticals; commitment for nature conservation and personal development being in the centre. Sustainable and responsible traveling, so-called ecotourism, as well as nature and adventure travel are further areas of expertise.

Our projects, courses and tours, fulfilling high sustainability standards, enable people – from graduates to best agers – to make an active contribution to protecting and conserving endangered species and ecosystems and, at the same time, to broaden their personal horizon.
