Description

I am an organised and dedicated person. I pay attention to detail and like to make sure things are done correctly. I am a good listener and am always willing to learn new things. I am a very outgoing person, who is always happy to help others. I am a team person, but can also work independently when necessary.

Since completing my undergraduate programme I have become increasingly enthusiastic about marine birds. I have, in particular enjoyed learning about what human activity impacts on them. I want to use my knowledge to develop prevention techniques and help conserve marine bird populations.

I am a member of the volunteering team, it is my responsibility to help answer the public’s questions on the seabirds nesting on the cliffs also monitoring the public’s interactions keeping the seabirds stress to a minimum. I am located on one of 6 viewpoints along the cliffs. Whilst volunteering I have had the opportunity to be a part of the Kittiwake productivity monitoring at one of the RSPBs plots, where I was responsible for observing the reproduction of one kittiwake plot and recording what I see.

Sept 2014 – June 2015

The Black Bull – Sizzling Pub (NMW)

Front of House

I work as a part of a small team delivering quality customer service. During busy shifts it is important to work as a team rather than individually to deliver food to customers and to clear tables efficiently. Ensuring customers feel comfortable in a safe and clean environment.
Jan – Aug 2014
Webhelp TSC (£7 p/h)
Customer service adviser – TV help

I worked in the TV help department of Sky. I dealt with customer TV issues as well as billing queries.  I gained experience in speaking to a wide range of customers with different needs and situations. Adding value to every call to fit with the customer needs and making their experiences with me unique was an important skill to learn, as I was required to profile the customer. I developed the ability to develop and maintain good rapport with customers, even in difficult situations e.g. where the customer was upset or aggressive.
September 2013
Frontier Madagascar (Volunteer)
Research Assistant in Beach Conservation

During my time in Madagascar I grew interested in the mangroves in the area. I was later informed that no one had been into the mangroves to survey them. This frustrated me, as the human impact on the mangroves was quite large due to the village using them as a waste/refuse dumping ground. Because of this I chose to undertake a BTEC in Tropical Habitat Conservation on the mangroves and the human activity found in the area. Due to my enthusiasm about the mangroves I have encouraged the staff based in Madagascar to continue the surveying and for them to encourage people to do beach cleans in the mangrove margins. Travelling alone to Madagascar and living in basic accommodation with new people helped me to further develop my independence and self-reliance. It also helped me gain valuable social interaction and communication skills.
