Description

My name is Cindy Smidt.  I am a 22 year old part time pet care adviser, graduating with a Bsc Hons degree in Zoology in October with a predicted 2:1.  From a young age I found that I had a passion for the sea and its extraordinary inhabitants. This passion has guided me through a BTEC in animal management and B.Sc. (Hons) degree in zoology. Within my studies I have completed an advanced diving course to which I would like to put to use with marine surveys and conservation. My keen interest lies with marine mammals, which lead me to undertake a marine mammal’s survey course with ORCA. Previous to my animal related studying, I undertook photography, product design and film studies for A levels. These lead to a hobby and keen interest in wildlife photography and filmography as well as an understanding on designing products for an array of audiences. This I believe is essential for conservation work as to obtain public support and make a difference to conservation and biodiversity today. As part of my zoology course, I have learnt a range of mapping and multivariate software which I would like to build upon as I have found it exciting, and therefore as a set target for myself, I will be undertaking more professional development to improve my skills within this field. I am an enthusiastic individual with a desire to learn and always improve my skills and knowledge
