Employment and work experience

November 2010 – Present.              Holland and Barrett. Manchester.

During my career with this company I have progressed from part time sales associate to full time supervisor at the company’s highest turnover store, and on to become manager of my own store. This position has strongly developed my customer service, time maintenance, prioritising, organisation, leadership,  cash handling and ability to support and train co-workers as well as ensuring the overall running of a workplace.

19th – 30th July 2010.                           The Tropical Zoo. Syon Park. Work experience.

This placement required me to work to a strict schedule in order to complete the required tasks of the day such as making sure that the range of exotic species kept were fed and cleaned and that visitor events commenced on time.

5th – 8th July 2010.                               Abbeyfields Equestrian Centre. Hayes. Work experience.

During my week here I was required to ensure that high levels of husbandry were maintained and that the required tack or horses were available when required, often not being the same from day to day so requiring extra attention to make sure that I was familiar with the plan for a specific day.

February – August 2010.   Hounslow Urban Farm. Feltham. Work experience/volunteer.

Once completing my work experience, I stayed on at this establishment, reaching a position of responsibility whereby I was presented with a jobs list each morning and a small team of students or volunteers and had to ensure that I prioritised, delegated and managed this workload effectively.

7th – 11th June 2010.                           Hook Norton Veterinary Surgeons. Banbury. Work experience.

29th April – 9th May 2008.  Animals Are Us Veterinary Hospital. Hayes. Work experience.

These two placements required me to demonstrate a good understanding of health and safety procedures and the ability to interact with people often in upsetting or worrying situations.

Other positions of responsibility

I have been an active member of scouting in the UK since 2006 holding positions as assistant beaver leader and assistant scout leader as well as volunteering on a monthly basis as a service crew member at PACCAR scout camp, Chalfont Heights.

Key responsibilities within these roles include:

– Impeccable organisational skills in order to ensure an entire terms worth of activities and having the appropriate equipment available

– Competently completing relevant paperwork. This includes ensuring that all required permits and documents are completed on time and submitted to the appropriate official in order to allow camps or events to proceed and health and safety risk assessments.

– General maintenance of facilities and equipment to make sure that everything is fit for purpose and easy to locate, improving efficiency for weekly meetings or larger group events.

– The ability to confidently interact with a diverse range of people, meeting their requirements and maintaining a position of trust within the community.
