Volunteer field/lab assistant needed for Summer 2015 at La Selva Biological Research Station in northeastern Costa Rica. The research project will focus on how arthropods perceive variable chemical defenses in the strawberry poison frog Oophaga pumilio and is one aspect of my M.S. thesis research at John Carroll University. Both field and laboratory work will be required. The field aspect will primarily involve the collection of arthropods and frogs that will be used in laboratory trials, and will require long hikes to and from field sites. The laboratory portion will include observing arthropod preferences during timed feeding trials, under controlled settings.
