Volunteering with Underwater Africa allows a wealth of opportunities to help contribute to scientific research and conservation whilst gaining hands on field experience. Underwater Africa are currently involved in the protection of coral reefs and mangrove forests in the Inhambane Province and so volunteers will be conducting marine surveys such as video transects to help monitor these protected reefs and mangroves. Volunteers will also be diving and taking part in ocean safari’s four times a week, not only to observe wildlife in its natural habitat but also to collect high quality long-term data on megafauna sightings.
