The participant will monitor the white-tailed deer population at Catoctin Mountain Park using field cameras.  Responsibilities include deploying cameras in the field, using GPS and GIS to map the locations of the cameras, downloading photos, changing camera batteries as needed, processing all photos, and recording data from photos in Excel.  The participant must be able to hike on mountainous terrain in order to deploy and maintain cameras.  The participant will work with the park Biologist and regional Wildlife Biologist to learn how to analyze photos and estimate deer population densities from data collected during the internship.  Opportunities exist to assist with other studies, such as a brook trout habitat study, where park staff will work with USGS to monitor stream tempera
