Job Description: I seek a highly motivated Ph.D. student to study the effects of livestock grazing systems on the demography and space use of sharp-tailed grouse in the northern mixed grass prairies of Montana and western North Dakota. The student will lead a 4-year field study to examine vital population processes (e.g., nest success, brood survival), habitat use, and viability of sharp-tailed grouse and the mesopredator community in areas managed using rest rotation grazing and other deferred grazing systems, with those managed using more traditional season-long and continuous grazing practices.
