Description The diffusivity of the ocean is a key measure for understanding oceanic heat and carbon uptake. It is however difficult to obtain direct measures of it. We have released surface and sub-surface drifters/floats in the Southern Ocean in novel configurations designed to optimise the calculation of the eddy diffusivity. We are seeking someone to process the sub-surface (RAFOS) float dataset and to compare this to results from the surface drifter dataset to provide a description of the vertical variation. The intention is to write the results up for one more scientific research publications. This post would particularly suit an undergraduate in mathematics or an equivalent mathematically intensive subject who is looking for employment over the summer vacation and has an interest i
