Job Description and Duties Working with a group of biologists who are studying the abundance and distribution of young Striped Bass, Delta Smelt, Longfin Smelt and other fishes in the Delta, the Fish and Wildlife Scientific Aid will: · Assist in processing biological samples in the laboratory using a dissecting microscope to sort, identify, sex, and measure fish and invertebrates. · Record sample data on data sheets and in a database. · Log in samples; downsize and prepare zooplankton samples for processing. · Clean and maintain laboratory equipment. · Safely use, treat, and dispose of formalin and ethanol, used to preserve samples. · Possible field collection of fish and invertebrate samples from a research vessel sampling in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta and upper San F
