Do you want to make a difference to the conservation of a nationally critically threatened species?  And spend your summer working mostly outdoors on a Hauraki Gulf island? We are looking for a highly motivated person to help determine causes of breeding failure in the nationally critically threatened shore plover. The work will involve: • monitoring shore plover breeding pairs, nests, and chicks using direct observation with a telescope from a hide, and analysis of trail camera images • quantifying disturbances that could result in breeding failure (e.g. human, avian, severe weather or tidal events) • data entry and analysis • keeping the field gear in good condition • relieving the Ranger Biodiversity in supervision of volunteer field assistants on days off.
