Atlantic woodland (or temperate rainforest) in the south west is an internationally important habitat for lichens, mosses and liverworts. This rare habitat has been subject to a number of past and current threats that are affecting species diversity within them. Building Resilience in South West Woodlands is a regional partnership project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund which seeks to celebrate these woodlands, improve our knowledge of them and carry out emergency management in the most threatened places.
