The Herpetology Lab at the Jones Center at Ichauway is seeking two Seasonal Technicians to assist with field surveys of gopher tortoise (Gopherus polyphemus) populations in Alabama. Each position is a 4-month appointment beginning approximately May 30, 2019. Job Requirements: The successful candidates will be responsible for the following: 1) line transect distance sampling through potentially rough terrain, 2) locating and scoping gopher tortoise burrows, and 3) data entry. The position will require extensive walking through rough terrain in hot buggy conditions. A field vehicle will be provided and travel expenses, including off-site housing, will be covered by the Jones Center. Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
