Description Topic: Human social and ecological drivers of deer populations in the northeast. Seeking a Ph.D. student with strong quantitative and field skills to become part of an interdisciplinary team of researchers studying the human social and ecological drivers of white-tailed deer populations in suburban and rural regions of New York and Massachusetts. This student will develop a dissertation topic using a tri-trophic approach where human hunting is evaluated as a possible top-down influence. This project is funded by NSF and includes 4 years of research assistant support beginning in January 2020, tuition waiver, and a standard UW-Madison graduate student benefits package.
