This training course has been designed to prepare those looking to enter ecological consultancy. It will include an introduction to work in consultancy, including: the planning system and why ecologists are required to support planning applications and an overview of a range of protected species and habitat surveys that are undertaken, with demonstrations of good practice as well as core desk-based skills such as GIS and report writing. We will also provide you with a range of resources that you can refer to, so that even when the course is completed, you will be able to continue learning and keep refer back to course material.

Whilst this is an online course (produced to ensure minimal Covid disruption!) a series of videos will virtually take you outdoors to explain surveys processes and how to look for field signs, helping to develop your core skills.

To ensure the course remains interactive and engaging, question and answer sessions will be held twice per day to ensure there is a clear understanding of all course material. For those looking to get into consultancy in 2022, we will also provide a review of your CV, with feedback on key experience or skills you may need to focus on.

The aim of this course is to help prepare those who are either seeking new employment in consultancy, or perhaps those who are in the very early stages of their career. This course will help demonstrate to any potential new employer that you have a good understanding of what is expected of you as an assistant ecologist and we will provide you with certification that details what has been covered in the modules within this course.

As we are focussed on helping those who have recently graduated, are soon to graduate or are still seeking employment, this course is discounted for these individuals.
